Advertising on Internet

Ever since the advent of Internet, advertising on the World Wide Web has been very popular. Many corporations, companies and business have taken advantage of this and you can see ads on any web pages you visit. Consumer can go to any search engine and type the keyword relating to what they are looking for and hit search and they will be provided with a huge list from which they can select. This is a very cost effective and time saving method of advertising.

It has become really easy for any business to have a personalized website by which they can advertise, directly interact with the customer; provide details about their product and services. Regular newsletters, offers, discounts can be pasted on site to increase the interest of the website visitors.

Since it’s easy to reach any kind of audience concerning any kind of business, the possibility of misuse is always there. Based on this Internet advertising is classified into two kinds of advertisement, legal online advertising and illegal online advertising. Legal online advertising includes online advertising directories, search engine advertising, e-mail advertising, and desktop advertising. Illegal advertising is more commonly know as spamming. This is usually done by altering some system settings with the help of external applications after which pop-ups are sent to a particular network or computer. The external applications are known as adware or spyware. Some of these are really harmful, the most famous being Trojans, which are very hard to uninstall and remove from the system.

With the increase in technology, special effects are being used to make advertisement more interesting. Vivid colors, good page layout and lots of imagination is involved. Typically Adobe Flash is used to design advertisements these days. Depending on the technology being used to design advertisements can be classified into various categories.

Banner ads are animations displayed on the website usually created in HTML or Eudora. There is a range of type and sizes of the ads. Trick banner ads are banner ads that have an extra functionality of dialog boxes and buttons and are displayed as an alert or error message.

A pop-up is an advertisement displayed in a new window that covers up the active web page. A pop-under advertisement opens in another window that is under the active web page and can be seen after the present window is either closed or minimized.

Interstitial ads are those that are displayed before directing over to the desired page.

Wallpaper ads form the background of the web page.

The ads that float on the screen are known as a floating ad.

Polite ads download on a low pace without interrupting the normal functioning of the website.

An ad that enlarges and changes the contents of the page being displayed is known as expanding ad.

Advertisements which are displayed in a video form on a website is known as a video ad.

There are many ways by which advertising slots can be purchased on Internet like CPM, CPV, CPC, CPA, CPL and CPO. CPM or cost per mil means that the advertiser is meant to pay for a particular number of people to whom the advertisement will be exposed.  CPV or cost per visitor means that the advertiser is meant to pay for the people to whom the advertisement was delivered. CPC or cost per click means paying for the number of clicks made on the advertisement by the visitors. Although the advertisement is put up on the website, the amount is paid only after the visitor clicks on the URL of the advertisement. CPA or cost per action means that the advertisement publisher bares all the charges of advertisement, but he gets paid only if the visitor clicks on the advertisement and purchases a product or signs-up for a service. CPL or cost per lead is similar to CPA, only that the visitor doesn’t have to necessarily buy anything; he or she can simply apply to get regular newsletters and special offers. CPO or cost per order is where the advertiser pays each time an order is placed.

Online advertisements cannot only be used to promote a product or service but in fact they can be used for purposes like promoting charity and spreading education.

4 Tips To Increase Your Blog Readership Fast!

Aside from being a fun hobby, what is the point of having a blog?
The answer is to draw readers. Whether you are selling advertising,
a product, or just your own set of ideas, you want as large a
readership as possible with most blogs. So if that is the case,
then it is important to know how to draw readers to your blog.

There are a number of ways to increase the readership of your
blog. Here are four tips that will help you to increase your blog
readership that are easy to do and will definitely pay off for you.

First of all, to increase readership you would want to increase
the number of pages each reader is seeing. You don’t want to be
judged only on your last post, but rather on the whole of your
work. To that end, try highlighting related posts within your
blog. At the end of an article, highlight posts that may be of
interest to those who like the current post. Most blog platforms
are fitted with plug-ins that will help you with this, but if
they are not, then go ahead and at least list the links to other
pages manually. Another similar idea is to highlight the related
posts within the content of your post. If you are talking about
a subject you have discussed before, link off of one of the
keywords into the past post that is related. This will also help
a past post to maintain its freshness.

A second tip for increasing
your blog readership is to think about doing a series. A series is
a great way to keep a reader coming back again and again. In addition,
if you are linking back, you can get readers looking at multiple
posts even after you are done with the series. Be careful when
doing a series, because you do not want to frustrate readers.
However, if you have a topic you genuinely think you should handle
over a period of time, then a series can really help your overall
readership. If you are curious as to whether or not a series is
working for your blog, then check posts. See if readers are posting
through the series to see if they are following you. If they are,
then your series is a success and you are only helping your blog
readership.

Another way to increase readership is a little more
“controversial” if you will. You can try putting excerpts on the
front page of your blog from certain posts. Many people claim it
is just a way to get more hits on your site. The truth is that
extra hits are a little side benefit of it, but the real value is
that it can make your site more engaging. By adding excerpts to
the front page you can manage the front and keep it fresh while
also teasing those who get that far into reading more than just
your most recent blog post. This will encourage a prospective
reader to explore your blog site a little more than they may have
normally. Again, you want to be judged by the whole of your work,
or at least by a larger piece of your work than just one post and
this will do that. If your writing is up to par, then, you will
see a rise in your readership.

Finally, if you really want to
build and increase readership, you have to have good quality
content. It should be useful, original, and interesting to your
target audience as well as keeping them wanting more of the same.
The more you raise the quality of your blog’s content, the more
you will see your membership, readership, and page hits go up
without even having to use any other “tricks.” People know what
they like and they like quality for the most part. Giving the
readers what they are after is probably the best way possible to
increase your blog readership.

Having a blog can not only be fun,

but if you are doing it right it can also be profitable. Either

way, though, you want to maintain and increase a following, or

readership. There are as many tips out there to increase

blogreadership as there are blogs, but to really get things going,

consider using these four tips. Follow them and you will see
your readership grow.

The Dreaded Blue Screen of Death

Earlier this week I was doing my daily prayers & reading when I heard in the other room the “Dun-Dun-Dah” sound of Windows closing down…I knew something wasn’t good about that…I got up & went to check on it & I saw my computer froze-up on the shutting down screen…I had to completely reboot the computer & then there is was “The Dreaded Blue Screen of Death”…It said if this was the first time I had seen this screen to just reboot…So I did…& there is was again….This time it said to open up in Safe Mode…So I did…& there it was again…Futilely I tried a couple more times but to my dismay…No luck…This was at 2am…I do things pretty early around here…

Well with nothing to do now…I decided to go back to bed…When I woke up at 7am I called my computer guy…He was asleep so I left a message…A couple of hours later he called me back & I told him what had happened…He said it sounded like a hard drive failure…I thought “Oh Crap” It’s been 2 months since I backed up…He told me to bring my Pute by & he would look at it…So I did…Are you seeing the similarities here…

He was out all day on service calls that day…Another night passes with nothing to do…The next day he gets started on it & finds that the boot sector is damaged…How bad he is unsure…He get’s it to boot up with a CD-Rom and is able to save my Desktop & Favorites…I thought with the back-up that would get everything…Boy was I wrong…Then he had to format the whole drive  & see if it would rebuild…New installation of Windows & a few maintenance programs later he called me up & told me I could come pick it up…Oh did I mention we went another night with nothing to do…$100 is the damage…My guy really takes care of me…I have been with him for years…

So Now I get home and hook everything up & get started…But wait…Where are my Applications…Incredimail…Twitter friend adding software…Firefox…All of my Emails addresses & bookmarks…I write a Inspirational Poem every morning with God’s help & fortunately they were all there…a couple of years worth…I just started noticing that all sorts of little things were missing…I’m told that traditional backing up is “Old School tactics”  & that “cloning is the way to go today…Nobody told me the difference…Now I see…

So I guess what this article is about is that you need to do more than backing up…Email your contacts list to a web-based email account you own so that they will be save there…Check into “Cloning” I know I sure am going to…Take extra precautions to protect you information…I had a password manager & all my passwords were safe…Whew that would have been a mess…Well that’s it for now…Take care…Kenney

Take a Look Inside Yourself

When we’re depressed, usually we feel we aren’t accomplishing much. We may be making an effort, but we have a tendency to give up easily. Unfortunately, after a time we start to doubt we can count on ourselves to do what we say, or we may become reluctant to agree to meet with anyone or promise to do anything because we don’t know how we’ll feel when the time comes. This usually spirals downward because the more often we break a promise or avoid one, the more that seems to prove to us that we aren’t reliable.

So how can we change this? How can we become reliable again, not just to others, but more importantly, prove to ourselves we will do what we intend? Because if we can’t count on ourselves even to go to an appointment, how can we believe we can accomplish our dreams? We can’t. And that would depress anyone. But if instead you practice making promises to yourself and keeping them, you can gradually rebuild confidence in yourself.

For a moment, think of yourself as a juggler, and the things you want to do in a day as the balls you balance. You may not be a very good juggler at the moment, but with practice, you can get better. So let’s say at present you are a two ball juggler. This means in the night or week before you can say, “what two things am I going to do on that day?” and be 90% sure you will get them done. And this would be great because you would know you can count on yourself to do two specific things. You can get anywhere with that. Knowing you can count on yourself is actually more valuable than the things you do or how many of them you can get done. It is the reliability that helps you restore your confidence and dependability and let’s you move forward in the direction you wish to go. Even if you can only do a couple of things a day, but you can count on yourself to do them, you can accomplish much!

So wherever you are at the moment, start seeing if you can make a commitment to what you will do tomorrow, and the next day, and each day this week. Begin small, maybe planning one or two things a day, and accomplish those things for certain. Your goal is to do 90% or better of what you set out to do. Anything else you get done, is extra. That’s wonderful. But don’t neglect those two things. You want to know if you say you’ll call two people, for instance, that you’ll do that. You’ll get it done. Once you have established that you can count on yourself to do two planned things a day, you can try for three a day. But the main thing is if you can count on yourself to do what you set out to do, you can make progress at anything in life. You can prioritize what is important to you, and say no before you take on too much.
