Top 3 Internet Marketing Myths Busted

Finding real success with Internet marketing involves getting ahead of the crowd by avoiding mistakes and staying away from myths that do more harm than good. That’s correct, there are quite a few fables out there in the internet marketing realm that are typically, and they’re believed in by most novice internet marketers. The following internet marketing misconceptions will help you see that what you’re doing isn’t so hopeless after all.

The first wrong impression about online marketing is that you will make tons of money if the search engines rank you high enough. This is not true because getting a high rank does not mean high profits. You must get a targeted group of people to your website via the use of keywords. For example, if your website is based upon “dog training” and has dog articles, you have to put dog keywords in those articles so that you viewers will want to read them. Don’t forget that you have to have related keywords that aren’t too vague. Your SEO campaign should focus on targeted traffic that makes conversions and not all traffic.

The second internet marketing myth is that it’s necessary to also be indexed in the much smaller search engines out there. The Internet is filled with many search engines, of various sizes. For years, Google has dominated search traffic, and it still is the majority ruler in terms of percentages of search engine traffic. There’s nothing stopping you from pursuing the smaller search engines, but you should look at it in terms of ROI, or cost effectiveness with regard to time spent versus returns on that. You’ll never really be sure what kind of returns you’ll get until you do register with them. So instead of focusing your efforts on registering for that many small search engines, you should try and get ranked in the major ones. Perhaps the prevailing opinion and experience indicates that for the time required, the three major search engines gives them what they need in terms of traffic volume.

Finally, it is a misconception that you never have to use SEO ever again once you reach high search engine ranking. As a matter of fact, you will have to always make an SEO effort because many other sites want to be in your high ranked position. So if you really want to take advantage of search engine traffic, you have to constantly work at it. This doesn’t take too much work once you get a high ranking.

All you must focus on is putting fresh content on your website and making good solid backlinks. A wise method for keeping track of your search engine rankings is to use automated software. If you don’t want to buy a new one, you can always do it by hand.

In conclusion, if you want to succeed with internet marketing, research the truth and stop believing the crazy things that you hear.
