Guide To Keeping Yourself Motivated When Working From Home

Have you recently quit your 9-to-5 office job to instead make money online? Sure working from home got tons of benefits. There’s no need to commute. No chatty co-worker to put up with. No boss watching your every move. However, after some time, you will realize it has is own set of downsides. And one of them is easily losing your motivation to work.

Start the day right just before you scramble to your home workstation desk. Have a nice shower and breakfast. It’s important that you perform certain things in the morning to help you get ready, and excited, for work. Just because no one looks at you doesn’t mean you can work in your pajamas or boxers. Still keep the fact that you’re still working, but not in a conventional office.

Since you’re just a few steps away from temptations, it’s more likely for you to give in to them. The snack-filled ref and the cable TV are just in the adjacent rooms. The bed is just upstairs. It seems like all the other parts of the house has become a distraction! What’s important is you try your best to focus on work. Set a schedule for working, and stick with it no matter what.

You can’t expect to work a hundred percent if your office is also the living room. It’s best to make a room in your house as your makeshift office space. It can be anything from the guestroom, attic, to the garage. Other than having an office room, make it look like a real office. Put up shelves, computer workstation furniture, and the likes. Each time you step into it, it’ll be easier to get your working mood on.

Make a list of all the tasks you need to accomplish during the day. Also, give each one a deadline that you intend to meet. Check off each entry as soon as it’s done. Somewhere between tasks, reward yourself for meeting deadlines. But don’t extend your rewards or breaks; otherwise you’ll completely lose your motivation to work.

Find during which time of the day you’re at your most productive. Is it early in the morning? Is it mid-afternoon? Whichever time it is, do all your difficult tasks when you’re at you most productive self. Leave easy tasks when you seem to be less lively. It’s during such times where you may also multitask, such as simply sending e-mails while watching soaps.

There’s no doubting that working from home got lots of advantages. But it also got disadvantages. Losing your motivation to work can spell disaster. Of course it’s embarrassing to ask your former boss to give you back your post after only a few weeks of resigning. That’s why it’s important to keep motivated and never abuse the perks.
