Avoid These Campaign Killing Mistakes When Marketing on Twitter
More and more people are flocking to social media sites, and this trend is led by Facebook and Twitter. Twitter can provide you with lots of targeted traffic, as long as you don’t fall prey to mistakes that can ruin your efforts.
One common mistake that many Twitter marketers make when they’re first starting is they get too personal with their contacts. Even though it’s important to keep tweeting random things that will really interest your followers, it’s important differentiate between a professional Twitter account and a personal one. For instance, if your niche market is about “search engine optimization”, you shouldn’t mix your own personal tweets here and rather aim at sharing more information about SEO. Your followers don’t really care what you thought about a certain movie or which comedian you think is funny. They only want to hear about how you can help them, maybe with a new product you’re promoting. You can send fun tweets, but they must be within your niche. Look for funny video clips and other things that are within your subject matter and let your followers know about them. Even though this video might not give them anything useful, it’ll make your tweets look interesting. You’re still able to entertain and send out tweets that show your personality, but you’re not deviating from your subject matter. If you want to reveal everything about yourself and really let yourself hang out, you need a personal Twitter account, which you should make and keep separate from any of your business dealings. Another simple mistake that Twitter marketers make is they get scared that their followers may quit them if they aren’t polite enough. It’s almost a disease to seems to strike every new Twitter user. This is when the person is so afraid of their image that their afraid to send out too many messages for fear of looking like a spammer. You actually need to do the reverse of that. If you don’t send out lots of tweets, you will never stand alone amongst the thousands of tweets you’ll have to compete with. That’s how it works. The people following you aren’t just your followers, but they have a following as well. If you send out a single tweet a day, you will see your tweet instantly disappear in the sea of tweets it has to compete with. Go with the flow, but you’ll want to tweet as much as you can without annoying anyone.
If you’re just starting out with Twitter marketing, you might make the mistake of finding targeted followers, before you even have any activity on your own Twitter page. Your goal is to build your reputation in your niche, and to do this you have to post some tweets before you start looking for followers. In other words, the kind of information you share on your Twitter page will help you gain followers.
So before you actually take up the task of growing your follower count, put in some effort to actually tweet some targeted information related to your niche, so that when they see your page, they should feel the need to follow you.
Basically, Twitter can give you the success you want, but you need to avoid the mistakes you just learned about.
