<p>Most people don&#8217;t give much, if any thought to how they breathe. Did you know that how you breathe could be a contributing factor in how often you experience panic attacks and how long your attacks are? Learning how to breathe correctly can help you with treating panic attacks.</p>
<p>Breathe Right to Reduce Stress</p>
<p>The most natural way to breathe is from the abdomen but when people get stressed or anxious they will often start breathing from their chest. Chest breathing, as the name suggests, is when you take shallow and rapid breaths from the chest. This type of breathing upsets the balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the body and can lead to a number of physical symptoms including muscle tension, increased heart rate and dizziness.</p>
<p>When you are breathing with your diaphragm, your breaths will be deep, even and fill your lungs. When you are in a deep sleep and relaxed you will do this automatically. Breathing in this manner is the natural way to breathe; even a newborn baby does it.</p>
<p>If you want to check which method you are using to breathe, the easier way is to put your left hand on your stomach and your right hand on your chest. If your left hand moves then you are using abdominal breathing, conversely, if your right hand moves then you are predominantly chest breathing. Being aware of the method you are using is the first step in being able to control anxiety and panic with relaxation breathing.</p>
<p>Proper Breathing to Relax</p>
<p>Here is a simple technique that you can use for treating panic attacks. Practicing this technique will help you use it when you are starting to feel anxious. (note: it&#8217;s best to try this laying or sitting down at first, if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable at any time stop immediately):</p>
<p>Sit or lay down and try to relax as much as possible. Place a hand on your stomach and inhale slowly through your nose. Your hand should rise and fall with each breath if you are breathing with your diaphragm.</p>
<p>Exhale through your mouth without holding your breath. You don&#8217;t want to force the air out but let it exit your lungs naturally.</p>
<p>Try repeating this several times.</p>
<p>You can add another level to this relaxing breathing technique by turning it into a breathing mediation. To do this, you want to focus your attention on your breathing, letting all other thoughts drift away. As the air moves in and out of your body, keep your attention focused on how you hand rises and falls or how the breath moves in and out of your nose and mouth.</p>
<p>You can use proper breathing techniques for treating panic attacks and reducing the severity of them. When you add proper abdominal breathing to other techniques you may already be using against anxiety and panic attacks you will be well on your way to getting your life back.</p>

<p>Most people don&#8217;t like to be alone. Most are afraid of loneliness, especially because we know that at some point in time most people spend time alone for one reason or another.</p>
<p>People can find themselves alone for a period of time because of a number of circumstances, including but not limited to the death of a spouse, a child moving out, a breakup of a relationship. These are all difficult situations. They are things we can overcome, however. To make life fuller and richer, it is critical to get to where you can enjoy things without needing another person to enjoy it with.</p>
<p>This is a very hard thing to understand. People have to be able to appreciate and enjoy life on their own. Some people become so dependent on others that they really cannot enjoy any activity without someone there. It&#8217;s like telling a story.</p>
<p>If we have a story to tell but no audience, then there is no value to the story. This way of thinking is not healthy. We set ourselves up to depend on others to an unhealthy degree when we think this way, because we can&#8217;t enjoy anything unless there is someone there with us.</p>
<p>Sharing experiences and stories is enjoyable and important of course. But, that is not the important thing. The important thing is to enjoy what you are doing. You should be able to fully experience and enjoy your activities, all by yourself.</p>
<p>When you are able to enjoy things on your own, no one can take this away from you. You will always be able to remember this good time also. This is the key to true independence. You&#8217;ll find that you are happier and stronger as a result, regardless of your circumstances.</p>
<p>Sometimes the thought of being comfortable with oneself and happy alone can seem morbid or depressing. Just remember, this doesn&#8217;t mean that you can&#8217;t share things with others. The goal is that you should not feel that you have to share with someone for there to be value in experiences.</p>
<p>Think of it in terms of both, and not either. We can be fully independent and able to enjoy activities on our own, and this allows us to savor our experiences more fully when we do share them with others.</p>

<p>Attention Deficit Disorder can sometimes be accompanied by other pre-existing conditions. Often with ADD, these other pre-existing conditions have similar or the same symptoms and, therefore, are either undiagnosed or mistreated. This can creates a many types of issues, as these disorders, when separate, must be treated in a totally different way. If misdiagnosed, it will lead to ineffective treatment and possible exacerbate the condition. As coexisting conditions, these are especially of concern, because they increase the severity and intensity of many of the symptoms of ADD, as well as the negative impact on those that suffer with them&#8230;..especially if young children or teens are involved.</p>
<p>Oppositional Defiant Disorder or Conduct Disorder is on such condition of concern. Children with this disorder tend to be very aggressive and defiant. They usually lose their tempers very easily and challenge authority figures. This is the most easily diagnosable behaviors, as teachers and parents become aware of this conduct quickly and seek treatment almost immediately. This particular disorder is common in children that are the hyperactive/impulsive type of ADD and occurs in 35% of children with ADD. This coexisting condition makes it much more likely that these sufferers will get in legal trouble as they age due to their authoritative defiance. </p>
<p>Many children that have ADD also suffer from mood disorders and/or depression. The complication associated with this coexisting condition is the increased likelihood of suicide common during teen years. 18% of ADD children also suffer from some type of mood disorder, and is it more likely to occur within the inattentive type of ADD. This is often not as easily diagnosed as compared to other conditions. Children with mood disorders as a coexisting condition must be treated with different medication than typical ADD treatment; therefore, such therapy may be more difficult.</p>
<p>Also a concern is anxiety disorders among ADD sufferers, which constitutes roughly 25% of those with ADD. Traits common of Anxiety Disorders are fear, panic, and worry, which may necessitate medication and/or counseling. As with mood disorders, combined treatment make therapy more complex and arduous.</p>
<p>Learning Disabilities are also conditions common with children that have ADD. While ADD, in itself, is not a learning disability, it can make it extremely difficult for children to perform well in school. If coupled with a learning disability, it makes it considerably more challenging for children to grasp academic concepts and utilize such knowledge.</p>
<p>For the most part, coexisting conditions make treatment more difficult and the side effects of both disorders more severe.
