You might have days or even a week where you feel down or blue. You may even come to say that you feel depressed but its the depression and anxiety that causes people to lose their way in life or see marriages fail or jobs lost because of it that really have it as an illness. Feeling blue and being depressed are in essence two very different things.

They can both be treated well with something called CBT also known as Cognitive Behavior Therapy. This is where a therapist will work out why the patient does or feels the things they do. They look for behavior associated to their condition and then work backwards to see if they can stop that pattern of behavior.

Very often people think it is something in their past they have blocked out when very often this therapy can show it’s our current lifestyle that can cause us problems with depression, we lead such fast lives, with over time and highly stressful financial issues that we lose ourselves and let the stress and worry take over. By getting help for either of these conditions and working out just how we can nip it in the butt then the sufferer may well not have to take any medication with any possible side effects after all.
