NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming is one of the methods of psychotherapy. Ever since its conception in the ’70s, it has been regarded and defined as an alternative form of therapy that seeks to find connections in self-awareness, communication and experiences that will then help one’s mental and emotional conditions. An in depth look on what NLP involves is discussed further in this article.
Although possible, it is hard for people to control their behavior and thoughts. We are sometimes faced with a dilemma of acting out exactly what is already in our minds. Neuro Linguistic Programming has ways that can help people deal with this issue.
We can actually learn how to control our minds when we study Neuro Linguistic Programming. We will be able to forget about our fears and illnesses when we learn of the techniques that NLP suggests. Keep an open mind and check out the techniques that are suggested below that may be able to help us solve this problem.
One of the most popular and powerful techniques in Neuro Linguistic Programming is Anchoring. With anchoring, you essentially anchor a state of being or feeling onto it so whenever you trigger that anchor, you proceed to enter that state of being. It can help a person automatically feel happy when they are depressed, be motivated when they are starting to doubt their abilities, and even feel better when they are starting to exhibit psychosomatic illnesses.
Neuro Linguistic Programming teaches us that the first step in anchoring method is by putting ourselves in a specific state of mind that we would want to remember in the future. The first step is for a person to try to remember a certain state, say being happy, by recalling a past experience when he or she was in that state of being. By remembering exactly what are the sensory stimuli present at the time, we are able to print a very vivid image of that experience in our mind.
Creation of the anchor association comes in at the time of peak emotional intensity. The anchor can be anything that the five senses of the body can perceive, an example of which is hearing a certain kind of music or smelling your favorite food. Of all the senses, anchoring with the sense of touch is the most recommend Neuro Linguistic Programming method as it?s the longest to stay effective.
Once the anchor is created, you get up and walk around or just take your mind off it at once. Once the person breaks off and the mind is focused on something else, the whole process can be repeated. Once the anchor is triggered later on in the future, the state of being that is anchored onto the senses envelopes a person.
Anchoring is not hard, the hard part is focusing and creating the scenario that enables anchoring to take place. Fortunately, anchoring is not something that is very complex or impossible to do as it only requires focus, discipline and practice. Everything in Neuro Linguistic Programming is about the mind, using it in ways a person has never done before, so at first it may seem hard but it definitely gets easier.
This article talked about just one method of Neuro Linguistic Programming to control your mind and that is through anchoring. This article focused only on one method among many other in NLP. As a last thought, anchoring is a great way to get into NLP and probably the easiest too.
